Inventor of AS-interface is Bihl+Wiedemann. The same company which established the ASi-5 standard with features for "Industry 4.0".

Conveyors are one of the areas of application for AS-interface, specifically ASi-5, in drive controllers from Bihl+Wiedemann.

How do you do that?
AS-interface is a bus with a different focus than all current industrial Ethernet based buses. It is a two-wire system with a power up to 8A + modulated data component.
Application on modular conveyors mainly benefits from the possibility to "pin" the slave nodes on the wire pair cable exactly where the sensors are located and to connect the motors exactly where they are placed. The cable trays are therefore optimized. In addition, the inherent integration of safety technology. Less connectors, more connection. We will advise, deliver and even commission if necessary!
